About Chartridge

Originally built in the 1970s and 1980s, Chartridge is one of the most desired neighborhoods in Maryland. A community of 375 homes and over 1,000 people, it is located near the heart of Severna Park and close to shopping, schools, and ball fields. Our public school students attend award-winning, nationally recognized schools: Oak Hill Elementary, and Severna Park Middle and High Schools. Chartridge is one of the few neighborhoods in the region with an exclusive, "residents and their guests only" outdoor swimming pool complex.

Turning into the Chartridge community one is immediately struck by the beauty of tree-lined streets with sidewalks. Rare is the time when neighbors are not seen out for a stroll. A well-equipped playground and large community ball fields compliment the pool. Basketball and volleyball courts are often used by kids and adults alike.

Chartridge is a registered community, governed by a volunteer board of directors which oversees the Chartridge Association. Numerous volunteer committees manage the various aspects under their jurisdiction. These volunteers run the social events in the community, take care of the playground, oversee the pool, prepare the community newsletter, etc.

A community thrives when people stay connected to their neighborhood and neighbors. For this reason Chartridge has a long history of hosting community gatherings that range from 4th of July parties to fall festivals to the adult-only Oktoberfest. The community welcomes newcomers and long-time residents as volunteers.
